I don’t even know where to start….I woke up this morning and was determined to make this a productive day. It was one of the first days this summer that I didn’t have somewhere to be. I had my list (of course) and was ready to roll. I headed out with a few errands to run, hoping to be back home by noon. Well that did. NOT. happen. I stopped into work to pick something up….no one could find it (20 minutes later). Next, I headed for an oil change (1,000 miles overdue, I know, I know). But, not without stopping by Starbucks for my most recent FIX: non fat no whip white chocolate mocha frappe (to die for!). I was at the car place with my most recent read in hand, I figured I could get a good 20 minutes of reading in. An hour, many many pages, and $110.00 later I was leaving with an oil change, transmission flush and car wash (so much for getting home by noon). Then, I headed to Staples to hit up the Back to School sales.
A) I can’t believe I just typed Back to School
B) Summer is really half way over?????.
Anyways….you can’t beat a pack of pencils for a cent, so off I went. Since, Bed, Bath and Beyond was right next door, I decided to bring in my stack of coupons and get some things for the house stop in. It was a great decision, because I found some perfect pictures for the house (pics to come soon). My last stop was to Lowes, my home away from home recently. I was there on a mission: find new plants for the front of the house. You see, we have (had) these vines that were taking over the front. We I was cutting them weekly and I was OVER it. While at Lowes I found out they were sweet potato vines. I wanted to find something to replace them that was the same size and not too much maintenance. An hour and 3 sales people later, I was on my way home with a car filled with school supplies, things for the house and plants. The time was now 1:00. Not too bad off my noon goal. I threw on my romper with tennis shoes (no tan lines =-) and ventured out. Ripping out those vines was exhausting but also a little stress relieving. It took me 3 hours (in the FL heat) from start to finish. I went through 8 water bottles and debated stopping more times than I could count. I planted some flowery vines (forgot the name) and I am hoping praying they grow fast (they don’t look to hot right now). I also replanted a pot of flowers that my dad planted when we first moved in the house. Unfortunately, they didn’t make it too long and I was tired of waiting to see if thy would grow back.
Air conditioning never felt better when I went inside. I took an hour break (shower, reading, eating) and set out to get one last thing done. Our close friends put wainscoting in our living room as a wedding gift. Steve came over on Saturday and did it. It looks amazing and I was anxious to finish it. The only thing I knew how to do was filling the nail holes with putty. I really wanted to surprise the Mr. by getting this done by the time he got home from work. He’s been working so hard around the house and this would be one less thing on his list. Let it be said, I did not enjoy doing this at all. I hated the way the putty felt on my hands an went through a whole roll of paper towels wiping it off. But, I got it done with 10 minutes to spare. The Mr. was very appreciative and even hung the pictures in the living room that I had been hounding asking him to hang. I have to say, I am proud of the work that I got done today. I didn’t need the help of my dad or D and I did it. It feels good. Enjoy some pictures of our finished living room (before and after!)
Sounds like a very busy day! I love the new living room. It's amazing what a difference some paint can make!
It looks great!! Nice change!
Looks amazing! Where could a girl find some of those palm tree pics?! LOL! Seriously they look awesome. Love the landscaping, as well. 🙂
