I’ve had a day in the life post on my “to blog” list since AG was born.
There were many days where I would attempt to photograph our days to do this post.
But every time I did that, I would photograph the morning and forget what I was doing by lunch.
So, I’m posting without pictures. If you follow me on Instagram, you see them everyday anyways!
Our days just started becoming more routine. This is the schedule we’ve fallen into.
7:30 – 8:00 Wake Up/ Nurse
D is home from the gym and about to get ready for work.
He changes the first diaper and hands her off to nurse.
8:15 – 9:00 Play Time
The Today show comes on.
D leaves for work during this time.
This is when I make my breakfast (eggs, turkey sausage and OJ)
I eat and make my to do list for the day while she plays and entertains herself.
When I’m done eating, we read a few books.
9:00 Breakfast
AG is eating oatmeal and a fruit for breakfast.
She gets her sippy cup filled for the day when she’s finished.
While she’s in the highchair, I’ll do the dishes.
My goal is to always start the day with an empty sink.
9:20 – 10:00 (ish) Play Time
During this time I’ll bring AG in my craft room and start work for the day.
My goal is to get one order/ item done in the morning.
She has a different set of toys in my craft room that she plays with.
Now that she’s mobile, I put her in the pack and play in the room.
She’s only been in it this week but seems to enjoy it.
We sing and talk while I work to keep her entertained.
10:00 – 11:00 Nap Time
She will play in her crib for a while before she goes down.
I’ll go in and out when she plays, trying to get her to go to bed.
When she FINALLY lays down, she’ll fuss for a few minutes and eventually fall asleep.
If I’m lucky, I’ll get 45 minutes!
During this time I make my coffee and then pump for 20 minutes.
I’ll get ready for the day, try to somewhat look presentable depending on what the plans are for the day. Then with the left over time I’ll read blogs, catch up on emails and sometimes watch a DVR show.
11:00 – 11:30 Quiet Time
Since AG doesn’t nap long, I’ll bring her in my craft room after her nap and let her watch a baby Einstein DVD. She will lay there, still for the entire thing.
I try to finish the order I started earlier or prepare orders from the day before to ship that afternoon.
11:30 – 12:00 Nursing
While AG eats, I catch up on social media.
12:00 – 2:00
This is when we are out and about for the day.
I usually grab a Cliff or Lara bar and V8 juice for a snack.
If we’re home, I’ll have lunch (lately it’s been cucumber, hummus and olive chips)
Some days this involves the grocery store or Target.
Others it’s picking up fabric or shirts.
I make sure to get out of the house everyday.
**LUNCH***
AG gets lunch around 1. She east a fruit and veggie.
If we’re out, I’ll pack her food.
I bought cute little containers this week and they work perfectly.
2:00 – 3:00 Nap
She takes this nap in her swing. As much as I want her to be in her crib, she doesn’t go to sleep.
She will play for hours and then it’s 4 and time for her to eat again.
The minute she gets in her swing, she’s out.
It works.
During this time I clean up the house, eat lunch or a snack and check my computer.
I’ll start laundry and create the files for my orders for the night.
3:00 – 4:00 Play Time
This is when I wear the little one out.
She goes in her bouncer, plays with all her toys, reads books and climbs all over me.
I am on the floor with her the entire time. No working or catching up on things during this time.
4:00 Nursing
Another social media fix during this time.
4:30-5:30 Workout
We get out of the house everyday (weather permitting) and go for a walk or run. I try and run at least 3 days a week and usually walk with a friend once a week.
Then I come home and do a DVD, right now I’m on week 3 of Jillian Michael’s Ripped in 30.
AG is on the floor with me while I workout, attempting downward dogs, chewing my yoga mat and pulling my hair while I do push ups. It’s comical.
5:30 Shower
This is when I shower for the day.
Not the ideal time but it works.
AG gets strapped into her rock and play sleeper in the bathroom with some toys while I shower.
6:00 – 7:00 Dinner
AG eats at 6. She has oatmeal and a veggie.
She stays in her highchair attempting to eat puffs while I cook.
D gets home around 6:30 and we eat dinner.
I try to clean as many dishes as possible and pick up the kitchen.
7:00 – 7:30 Family Time
Playing, reading books, jumping in the bouncer, etc.
If I’m slammed with things to do this becomes daddy time.
7:30 – 8:00 Bath Time
D does bath time every night.
It’s his thing. If you asked him what his favorite part of the day is, this is it.
If I washed my hair I’ll dry it during this time. That way I’m close if she puts soap in her mouth or he needs an extra hand with our wild one.
I’ll also pick up toys, close all the blinds, lay out her pajamas and if I have time open my computer.
8:00 – 10:00 Nursing & Hubby Time
While I nurse, D and I start a DVR show.
Baby is in bed by 8:30.
We say a few prayers that she stays down and check the monitor constantly.
D and I spend time together, eat dessert, catch up on our shows and talk.
10:00-12:00 Work
Hubs goes to bed at 10 and I go to work.
I get orders done during this time.
It’s my only quiet time each day, even thought it’s late, I look forward to it.
Hubs did give me a curfew though. I have to be in bed by midnight or else!
He hates that I stay up late but I’m better staying up late than waking up at 5:45 like he does.
12:00 BED!!
4:00 Nursing
AG usually wakes up around 4 to eat and then will go back to bed until 7:30-8.
Depending on how much she eats, I may stay up and pump.
Then, it’s back to bed for me!
AND THERE YOU HAVE IT…
A DAY IN OUR LIFE.
*Some days we go to story time in the morning, she’ll be starting Gymboree Tuesday afternoons so that will change things up a bit. The thing I love is that AG can nap anywhere. We are finally on a 4 hour eating schedule which makes doing things much easier. This schedule is by no means rigid, which works for us right now.
I LOVE seeing the daily routines of other mamas. I love the idea of starting the day with a clean sink…I may have to implement this at our house. 🙂
Wow, that made me tired just reading it. Obviously, I'm not a mom.
Being a momma is hard work. I never realized it until I became one. There's never enough time in the day, and I pat myself on the back if I squeeze in a shower lol
I'm so impressed that you get dressed, showered, and out of the house each day. When I was home on maternity leave that was a rare occurrence. 🙂 And you exercise every day! You're amazing! Like you, I love the quiet time late at night. That's my "me" time for blogs, books, or TV shows. Lately, it's CandyCrush on my iPhone. I need to delete that ASAP! haha
Hey Leah…what type of cereal do you feed avery. I just started our Riley on food and I am really precautious about baby food and cereal. I have been feeding her homemade sweet potatoes so far.
