I’m excited to be back with some fabulous mamas for the third installment of the One Year and Beyond Series. I learned so much from the last series from the other mamas, I can’t wait to read all of the posts from this series.
{One Year and Beyond} Toddler Diaper Bag Essentials
Before AG was born, I thought long and hard about what
diaper bag I wanted. I spent hours researching, had it perfectly packed before
she arrived and pretty much every time I left the house for that first year.
Then, she became more mobile. Leaving the house wasn’t as easy as it
used to be. I also really didn’t need everything and the kitchen sink that had
been packed in there every time. So, I downsized and minimized for my toddler
diaper bag. I decided to go with a backpack instead of an over the shoulder bag
this time around. When we were out and about at museums and the zoo, I was
always messing with my over the shoulder bag because it would fall off. As soon
as I switched to the backpack, things were much much easier. I definitely recommend a backpack for a diaper bag, so much easier. Here is what I typically have in my mama mag.

Diaper Bag
This Petunia Picklebottom Bag is the new bag I received for both kids. It’s bigger than this Vera Bradley one that I’ve been using for AG (which has been perfect for her toddler bag.)
Busy Bags

I usually keep two in the backpack at all times. These are
especially great for going out to eat as well as those days where something
takes longer than expected and you need something to entertain your little one. You can see my entire busy bag post here.

Snacks
Never leave the house without any snacks. With my child, I need to have a
variety. She is so finicky when it comes to her food on a daily basis. I
usually always have an applesauce pouch, fruit snacks, a granola bar and either
cheerios or crackers.

Spill Proof Sippy Cup
I can’t tell you how many brands of sippy cups we’ve tried
in our house. I feel like they all start out great and then within weeks, they
start to leak or can easily spill. Most of the time AG just uses the take and
toss cups, as I’ve found they are cheap, easy to clean and convenient. I also
actually love a lot of the holiday straw cups from Target. We’ve never had a
problem with those spilling or being able to easily clean the parts. But, when we’re on the go I bring these Tommy Tippee cups because they have a little top on them which prevents spilling in the car.

Diapers/ Wipes
I only carry 2 diapers and a small thing of wipes with me
these days. I made this little diaper clutch that is perfect for a few diapers and a wipes case.

Favorite Toy
AG LOVES the Little People toys. If you were to ever come over to our house, you will find
them scattered throughout. She takes them in the bath, for naps, in the pool,
when she eats dinner…. everywhere. I always make sure to have one in the diaper
bag or grab one before leaving the house.

Hand Sanitizer & Disinfectant Wipes
This is a must for a toddler diaper bag. AG loves to touch
things everywhere she goes and I always make sure to have BabyGanics hand sanitizer and wipes
with me. Also, I feel like whenever we go to the grocery store, they are always
out of wipes for the cart. Having some in my bag always saves the day.

Extra Change of Clothes
I learned this lesson the hard way. We were flying back to
Florida back in May and AG peed through her diaper on the plane (sorry for
outing you sweet girl.) She was wet as was I. Fun times. Anyhow, I didn’t have
a change of clothes with me. Mom Fail. Since then, there is a change of clothes in the diaper bag and in the car. Can we talk about how cute this outfit is? I went to pick it up at Target and they were out of her size. Looks like I’ll have to order online.
