Last year, my mom bought AG Elf on the Shelf for Christmas. She knew she’d be at the right age to start it this year. I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t something I’ve been looking forward to doing all year. I’ve seen so many fun ideas on Pinterest over the years. I’ve pinned a bunch and recently have started to write down the ones I wanted to use this year. Since AG is only 2, we’re going to save the really funny ideas for the future. This year we’re just going to hide the elf in different places, incorporating some of her toys to make it fun for her.
We gifted her with her elf this weekend. AG stayed with my parents for a few days after Thanksgiving. We had her big girl room painted while she was gone and decided to use the elf in her big girl room reveal. When she came home we had her Elf on the Shelf wrapped at the foot of her bed in her new room. She unwrapped it, in awe of what she saw. We read the book and I explained a little to her. I know she doesn’t really grasp the concept yet but I know she’ll look forward to finding her elf everyday.
This morning, I woke up bright and early to set up our first north pole breakfast. I didn’t plan anything for this breakfast at all. Thankfully I’m a hoarder when it comes to Christmas and crafts so I was able to throw together some decorations along with a few little gifts and activities before she woke up. When she came down the stairs her elf “cocoa” was waiting for her with a few dollar spot gifts to kick things off. I’m not sure who is going to enjoy “Cocoa” more this year, AG or us!
Below you’ll find a list of Elf on the Shelf hiding places I’ll be using throughout the month. At the end of the month, I plan on updating this list with pictures. If you have any ideas for Miss Cocoa, please share!
