One holiday tradition we’ve had since AG was born is making Christmas footprint art. It’s something I look forward to doing each year.
While I know I can’t freeze time, it’s a way to press the pause button for a moment. Those itty bitty newborn toes in 2012 & 2014 will never be that small again, but I’ll always have these pieces of art to cherish and remember those sweet newborn days.
These ornaments, canvases and frames we’ve made over the past years are one of my favorite Christmas decorations to unpack and display. One year, there will be an entire wall filled with these special prints.
In the past three years, we’ve done mistletoes, a christmas tree, reindeers and snowmen. I haven’t decided on what we’re going to make this year yet. It’s AG’s Advent activity tomorrow, so I better get to planning. Here are some of our past creations along with more ideas to inspire you.
I hope this will inspire you to create a keepsake with your littles this holiday season.
Mistletoes- AG was just three months old.
Footprint Tree- This was done at a pottery store and now hangs on our tree.
Reindeer Footprint Art- My first year with two littles.
Snowmen- another 2014 craft when AG was 2
and Luke was 2 months old.
Mittens from the Chirping Moms
Santa Head from Mudpies & Tiaras
Penguin Family from Fun Handprint Art
Footprint Gingerbread Men from The Pinterested Parent
Grinch Handprint Art from Fantastic Fun and Learning
Hand and Footprint Santa Sleigh from Preschool Activities
I have to try some of these! I’ve done mistletoes and reindeer, but the snowmen and penguins are too cute! Thanks for sharing!

I think the snowman was the most fun for me to do!
The grinch is absolutely my favorite

Isn’t it so creative!
These are so cute! I so so so regret never taking the time to do hand/footprint art with my kids when they were babies. They’re now 5 (twins), and I realize it’s never too late, even though their feet are huge now 😉
LOL, yes! I know one day I won’t be able to do them any more, so I’ll soak it up while I can!
The reindeer pulling Santa = perfect!!!
I know, right?!? That is the one I wanted to attempt this year but the santa intimidates me!
I LOVE these. I REALLY want to make some this year, but I have a silly question—what paint do you use? And do you usually have two canvases just in case it doesn’t work out the first time?

Not silly at all! I use regular craft paint, just make sure it says non-toxic on it. And honestly, I don’t always have two canvases. Knock on wood…there hasn’t been a catastrophe yet=-) It works great on card stock too!
Definitely want to try this with all my nieces and nephews as gifts for their parents! Such a sweet idea!
Thank you!
LOVE these cute ideas, will definitely be trying a few x
