I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, motherhood is the most beautiful thing to be able to experience and at times it can be messy. The days of motherhood can be long, especially when you’re not feeling your best. In these winter months, our house has been filled with endless colds. Usually it’s the kids who get them but hubs and I have been the ones under the weather. Colds take a lot out of me, add in taking care of two littles and I’m one TIRED mama.
In moments like these, the most important thing that I do as a mom is take some time for me. Time to relax, time to regroup, time to clear my head and gather strength for the rest of the day.
My me time is usually it’s in the afternoon while L naps and AG plays on ABC Mouse. During this time, I grab my journal, a book and a hot cup of tea. I curl up on the chair in the corner of our living room, making sure to leave social media behind. The key during this time is trying my best to remove outside distractions and just breathe.
TEA time = ME time
It’s amazing what this little bit of me time does for my mind, body and soul. If I’m feeling under the weather, I feel more rested afterwards. If it’s been a crazy day with work or the kids, I find that afterwards, I am more calm and patient. I need this time each day, so I’ve learned to make it a priority.
One of my me time must haves is a hot cup of tea. I’ve been drinking Lipton tea for many years and was excited to hear they came out with a variety of new flavors (black, herbal and improved green tea) recently. Some of the new bold and stimulating flavors are Enticing Chai, Orange Passionfruit Jasmine and Peach Mango. I love having a variety to choose from depending on how I’m feeling. If I’m under the weather, I always go for the superfruit green tea. If I want bold flavor and some spice, my choice is Enticing Chai. If I had too much coffee, the herbal caffeine free apple cinnamon is always a winner. The multi-sensory teas refresh standard tea time, creating an exciting and unique tea-drinking experience. You can check out all of the new flavors here.
There will always be laundry that needs to be done, there will always be dishes to be washed or meals to be prepped. There will always be something else that needs to be done or could be done. If you continue to choose the things that need to be done, you’re putting yourself on the back burner. Take some time, whether it’s just 10 minutes or a full hour for YOU.
As the saying goes, you can’t help others until you help yourself.
What is something you do for YOU each day?
If you’re not currently taking time for you, what do you plan on doing to make that time?

I couldn’t agree more, Leah. Me time as a Mom is essential. I love tea and want to try some of these flavors they sound so good. 😉
Parents need recharge time.
I’m not a mom, but me time is definitely important! It’s what keeps me sane. 🙂
I love Lipton’s new packages. I’m a bit of a tea snob but I grabbed a box the other day. It’s much better than I remember.
I take about an hour or more reading every day. That’s my me time that everyone knows not to bother me. I normally have a cuppa next to me as well 🙂
I’ve been bad about taking me time, but I’m getting better. The last few weeks I’ve been trying to read for at least half an hour before bed. I want to try and make that something I do everyday, but I’m used to not having me time so it’s been a work in progress! It’s true that it makes a big difference though — I always feel so much better after reading on a stressful day. And I like reading with tea, too 🙂
I love Lipton’s green teas! I know your post is sponsored by them, but I actually do reach for my Lipton tea for a little R&R. I also like peppermint tea right before bed.
