Toddlers are crazy little people. Reasoning is out the window in those early stages of toddlerhood, which often leaves me wanting to take a mommy time out (or pour a large glass of wine,) especially when it comes to feeding my toddler.
Luke is my on the go boy. My wild child. My boy who just wants to play all. day. long.
Sleep…forget. about. it.
Eating…aint. got. time. for. that.
Forget being strapped down to a highchair to eat a meal. If he had it his way, he’d snack as he played throughout the day. He’d drive his cars around the house, making pit stops for a bite or two.
Beep Beep, Luke is coming through.
Since he isn’t a fan of sitting and eating his meals for a longer period of time, I make sure to get as many nutrients in his diet throughout the day as possible. Snacking for him is just as important as his meals. I need to plan and prepare healthy snacks for him throughout the day that will cover what he refuses to eat at his actual mealtime. I try to keep an easy rotation of snacks and enough of a variety to keep him interested. Prepping snacks every day or two have having them in containers or in ready to go bags is a time saver and a must (for me) to prevent snack time meltdowns.
Here are a few of the snacks that are often on rotation at our house.
Toddler Snack Ideas
veggie straws + grapes
applesauce + crackers
carrot sticks + apple slices
whole grain gold fish + strawberries
string cheese + sliced pears
banana + granola bar
Now, I want to share my secret weapon with you. A way that I make sure Luke is getting essential nutrients he needs each day. Let me introduce you to Stage 3 Gerber® Good Start® Grow Toddler Drink. Yes, this is a TODDLER DRINK, designed to help 12-24 month olds get probiotics, vitamins, DHA for brain development, iron, and other fortified nutrients to keep their tummies happy and to keep them growing strong. I personally love that there are probiotics in it, which helps with their digestive health.
Now I don’t have to stress so much about meal time refusal. While it still isn’t fun, I no longer need to worry about Luke not getting the nutrients he needs. Definitely a #formulaforhappiness, thanks Gerber.

I learned: It is not made with genetically engineered ingredients (GMOs)
Connor has gotten pickier and pickier the older he gets. While we have a solid 35-40 foods he eats, there are some that he won’t come near. Veggies for example are out of the question. It makes meal time interesting.
