The Fourth of July is a few days away. We’re been busy trying to get in all things festive this last week. We’ve done some crafting, fingerprint designs, we’ve baked, decorated some more and have made sure to wear as much red, white and blue as possible. Today, I’m sharing an easy treat you can make with the kids, patriotic star pops!
Last year, we tried something similar for Valentine’s Day with heart pops. When I spotted patriotic rice krispie cereal at Target, I knew exactly what I was going to do with them. Well, this and one more sweet treat that was finished about 5 minutes before I started typing this post. If it comes out good, expect the recipe tomorrow!
Now, onto an easy fun treat that your kids will love to make.
To make these treats, you will need patriotic rice krispie treats, marshmallows, almond bark, small baking sticks, festive sprinkles, parchment paper, a star cookie cutter and butter.
First, make rice krispie treats as directed on the package. After they’re finished and in a pan, cut out stars using the cookie cutter. Next, lay finished stars on parchment paper. Then, melt almond bark according to the directions on the package. Once it’s completely melted, pour it into a bowl. Grab on of the baking sticks, dip it in the melted almond back and stick them into the star krispie. The almond bark will be an adhesive for the star to stay on the stick. Once it’s in, lay it down to dry. Do this with all of the star krispies.
Once all of the stars are dry, decorate them with the remaining almond bark and sprinkles. Let your littles run wild and have some fun decorating.
As you can see from the picture below, that my little one didn’t waste any sprinkles! Her pops were loaded and ready to share with the neighbors.
