When the holidays start to roll around, I start looking for ideas of fun things to do with the kids. I scour Pinterest, saving everything to a folder on my phone. As the weekends approach, I let the kids go through those folders and choose fun things to do. One of the things that won this year was making Halloween bark. I love making bark for holidays. It’s so easy and a lot of fun for the kids to do. Plus it’s easy to gift in little clear bags with a fun gift tag. Easy peasy- which is what I’m all about these days.
This bark seriously took less than 10 minutes to make and then about an hour in the fridge until it was set and ready to break apart.
Here is what we used for the bark:
You can use anything you have at home. One thing I wanted to add was the little candy eyes but I couldn’t find them in the pantry. Of course, we found them the next day.
Making the bark is simple. Put a piece of parchment paper on top of a baking sheet. Then pour the crushed Oreo’s over the sheet, spreading out best you can. from there, pour the melted almond bark over the top. Then spread out. Once it’s even, place all candy on top. Make sure it’s pressed in well enough. Then, put in the fridge until it’s set. Once it’s set, break it apart and enjoy!
The kids have already requested to do this again for Christmas, so keep an eye out for our Christmas Bark creation….coming soon!
