While it may not officially be spring yet, March to me means all things spring. The fresh flowers, bright colors, beautiful weather and the urge to start all my spring cleaning! Something about having a clean house filled with all things fresh just makes me happy.
Lets get to the good stuff. What are my must haves to start Spring off the right way?
Flowers
Lets start out with my personal favorite. Fresh flowers. Fresh flowers are a form of self care. I love having them in the house. The brighten up the room and make me smile. You just cannot go wrong with fresh flowers. And you don’t have to spend a lot. Our local grocery store has bunches for 3/$12. Sometimes I’ll grab one bunch and put them in a small mason jar on the kitchen table. Other times I’ll grab all three and put them in a large vase on the kitchen island. I make sure to trim the stems every few days when I change the water and the’ll give me a good two weeks.
CANDLES
Next up are lots of new candles, warmers, oils- anything that makes the house smell great. On the weekends, I always try to get up before the kids. I make my coffee, turn on the electric fireplace (even if it’s 80 outside) and light a candle. It’s my favorite part of the day before the chaos of sports and kids starts up. It’s all about the little things.
fresh SOAPS
Along with the candles, I usually start swapping soaps at this time too. Away with the winter scents, out come the fresh floral and fruity scents. I think right now we have a blueberry in the kitchen that I am obsessed with! Bath and Body Works has great sales on their soaps every once in a while. I won’t pay more than $3 per bottle, so I make sure to stock up when they’re on sale. They’re just so pretty too!
spring cleaning
Finally, lets talk cleaning. As soon as the weather warms up, spring cleaning starts. A few years back I posed a home cleaning schedule. It’s a great way to keep on track of cleaning throughout the year and I love a good checklist!
Recently, I tried out AGent+ Cleaner & Protectants, which is an all natural cleaner that protects the surface for up to 72 hours AFTER you’re finished cleaning. I received the AGent+’s new Sustainable Nesting Kit and immediately started cleaning. First up were all the light switches downstairs with the multi-surface cleaner. With the microfiber cloth, it took less than 5 minutes. So simple. I finished up with some other hard surfaces in the kitchen and bathroom. My house smelled so good afterwards.
Next up, were some spots on the sofa. We let our dogs on the couch. We do. While we try to wipe off their paws when they come from outside, there is some dirt that gets onto the couch every once in a while. There were two spots that I tried the multi surface cleaner on and it worked like a charm, I was so surprised I could use it on fabric! I also learned I could use it on the kids sports equipment, which is perfect since our soccer season just ended.
I love that it comes with a little bottle too, which went immediately into my car. I’m notorious for telling my kids they can’t easy messy stuff in the car. Then when it comes time, I give in and tell them to be VERY careful. Well, 3 times out of 4 something drips, spills or there is some sort of leftover mess. This small bottle (for hard surfaces) is easy to keep in the center console, grab and clean up those (hopefully) little messes. I actually tried it on some ice cream drippings from our soccer tournament last weekend, and it worked like a charm!
