The 4th of July is just around the corner and I’m here to help you with all of your holiday hosting needs. Over the next week, there will be new recipes, snack ideas for the kids, free printables and more. You know I can’t pass up an excuse to celebrate! First up, are these patriotic mini bundt cakes. They’re semi-homemade using cake mix and store bought icing. Anyone can make these and they scream 4th of July!
What you need
In order to make these you’ll need boxed white cake mix and the ingredients the cake mix calls for. Then, you’ll need vanilla icing, red and blue food coloring along with sprinkles if you choose.
Prepare the cake mix according to the directions on the box and preheat the oven as well to 350. Once you’ve made the cake mix, divide it into three bowls as equally as possible. You can measure if you want to be exact, I decided to wing it. When the mix is divided, use the food coloring to make one of the portions red and another portion blue.
Now it’s time to scoop the batter into the mini bundt pans. If you’re in need of a good pan, this one has great reviews. Using a cookie scoop, scoop the batter into a greased mini bundt pan. I did about two cookie scoops per color.
I started with red, followed with white and ended with blue. Don’t forget, when they’re done, they’re going to be flipped the other way.
After you add all the red, white and blue batter bake them in the oven at 350 for about 16-18 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
When they come out of the oven, place a cooling rack on the bundt pan and flip them over. Allow them to cool before icing them.
I warmed a container of vanilla icing in the microwave for about 15 seconds and used a plastic bag to pipe the icing over the cooled bundt cake. I topped with sprinkles and the kids enjoyed them immediately!
These patriotic mini bundt cakes are simple and quick to make which always makes for a winning recipe in my book!
Happy Independence Day!
