Baked donuts have become a Saturday morning tradition around our house. It started a year ago when I bought donut pans after seeing tons of baked donut recipes all over Pinterest. Over the past year, I’ve made a lot of different cake mix donut recipes, which can be found below.
German Chocolate Donuts / Caramel Apple Donuts / Cinnamon Bun Donuts
Crumb Cake Donuts / Red Velvet Donuts
Since we hosted Easter brunch this year, I decided to make donuts as our sweet treat. AG is always a fan of baked donuts, it’s one thing I knew she would eat. I had a box of spring funfetti cake mix in the pantry and knew that would make the perfect donut for Easter brunch. Not only did AG enjoy these funfette cake mix donuts, they were a hit with the whole family.

If you have a box of cake mix and a donut pan, you can easily make donuts in the comfort of your own home! This recipe below can be used with any flavor cake mix.
|
- 1 box cake mix I used funfetti spring
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup water
- 1 large egg
- Preheat oven to 350 and spray donut pan with non stick cooking spray. Make sure to spray it well.
- Mix the water, oil and egg together.
- Add the dry cake mix to the water, egg and oil mixture. Stir well or use a mixer to combine.
- Pour into donut pan. I found the best way it to scoop the mix into a gallon ziplock bag, cut a corner off and pipe it into the pan.
- Bake 8-10 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Allow them to cool for a minute before moving them to a cooling rack to cool completely before glazing.
- For the glaze, I've used melted frosting before as well as a simple confectioner sugar/water mixture. For these donuts, I used sugar and milk. Just mix until you get the consistency you want. I use 1 TBS milk for every 3/4 cup sugar. I used a thin glaze for this donut. For a thicker white glaze, add less milk.
- After donuts were glazed, I added spring sprinkles to top them off!
- I hope you enjoy these funfetti cake mix donuts!

It doesn’t say how many eggs to use in the ingredients. I want to make these for my daughters birthday and do not want to mess them up…
Hi Erin,
One Egg =-)
Leah , I do you think these would freeze ok ? I am thinking I can make a bunch the day before my daughter/son’s b’day , thaw in the am and frost . Their party starts at 10 am. Do you think that would work ?
