One of my favorite things to do is to read to AG. I started when she was in my belly. I read All The Ways I Love You to her a few times a week. As soon as she was born, we started reading to her daily. It’s the time of day I look forward to, especially at this age. One of her favorite things to do is read. She’ll grab a book, hand it to me and climb into my lap. My heart melts every. single. time. she does it. It’s just the sweetest thing. Sometimes she’ll listen to the whole book, others she’ll climb out to play with something else. She has also learned how to turn the pages. Most times I haven’t finished reading before she’s onto the next page. But as long as she is exposed to literature, it’s all good. I hope that her love for reading continues to grow over the years. I look forward to the days of reading chapter books and the teacher in me looks forward to the days I can start reading response journals with her. I bet she’ll LOVE that!
I was fortunate enough to have a lot of books to start AG’s library. At my baby showers the guests brought books instead of cards and wrote notes to AG in them. Every time I open on of the books I see a handwritten note from someone special in our lives. It makes me smile every time. Thanks to the showers we have books all over our house (in her bedroom, in her playroom, in the car and in the living room), there are always books at her fingertips.
Here is a list of some of my favorite books to read to her. I recommend getting the board books for little ones. If not the pages are sure to be ripped after a few uses. With the board books, the pages are easy to turn, they hold up really well and are easy to wipe down.
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE BOOKS TO READ AT HOME?
Thanks for sharing this list! I'm looking forward to creating the baby's library for the book nook!!
I always like seeing what books other families like to read together, because we LOVE reading! We're always looking for our next favorite read-aloud. Thanks!
I've been slowly adding to our son's library and I love this list! Definitely saving it so I can go back to it when I need to remember!
thanks for the ideas, I've been looking for books to add to Kendall's baby collection
This is a great list, we love reading at our house too! We read brown bear at least 20 times a day.. not kidding;) Other favorites are It's time for bed, I love you because you're you and my pretty pink counting & alphabet purse! Ag would probably love the purse books they are girly, cute and sparkly:)
I Love You Forever always makes me cry every time I read it to my daughter.
We love to read over here, too. I just wrote about our go-to books: http://lonestarsigners.blogspot.com/2013/10/read-to-me.html
I love all of these! My son has always loved, "Little Blue Truck."
Love this post. We're always on the look out for new books. We have most of them (Mac loves Pat the Bunny, Goodnight Moon and Brown Bear). If you like these, you'll love "Mommy Hugs," "My Love For You," and "Goodnight Gorilla."
I want to know how you get her to sit still and go through the book with you haha! All Hayden wants to do is flip through the pages!
I used to read “I love you the Purplest” to my daughter at least every other night. She’s 25 now and expecting my first grandchild and almost every time time I talk to her or on any card or text, I always end with, “I love you the purplest”. It’s funny how things stick with you thru the years. Now I’m going to order it so she can read it to my grandson.
