It’s been a while since I’ve posted a full Mommy School unit. Things have been busy since L made his arrival and sitting down to write these posts hasn’t been easy. I have been keeping up with daily activities and crafts with AG. If you follow along with me on IG, you’ve seen many of those in action. Come January 1st, I’ll be started with the letters of the alphabet for Mommy School. To finish up the year, I thought it would be fun to do some seasonal themed units. Today, read all about our snowman activities and come back next week for Christmas tree fun!
SNOWMAN FUN!
Our snack wasn’t the healthiest but it was fun to make…and eat. I put a straw through three powdered donuts, making sure not to poke through the top of the first one. For the buttons, I used M&M’s. The nose was candy corn and the eyes were chocolate chips. I made the scarf with a bunch of mini starbursts pressed together.
For crafts, kept things simple. I used three pages of blue card stock and drew a snowman on each. On the first, I traced around the outside of the snowman and AG filled it in with marshmallows. That was of course, after she ate her weight in marshmallows. “One for Avery, One for Snowman.” That is the way this activity worked. This activity is great for hand and eye coordination since her goal was to place the marshmallows on the glue line in a circle.
Next, she pom pom painted a snowman. Pom pom painting is one of our favorites. You just clip a snowman to a pom pom and let your child paint away. Our focus for this activity was inside and outside the circles.
The last craft involved buttons, AG’s favorite. The girl can play with buttons all day long. I had an entire container of white buttons, which were perfect for this craft. I placed a dot of glue on the snowman and she put a button on top. We worked on the concept of big and small while doing this activity.
Here are her finished products.
The felt board in the playroom is still a hit with AG. I have to admit, it’s a lot of fun for me too. I enjoy planning them out and changing it with the theme each month. This is totally the teacher in me. I only made these pieces to start off with, I think this week I’ll add a few more options for scarves and hats. Here is the printable I made and used to make the body of the snowman.
I’ve also pinned a bunch of snowman crafts and activities to the Mommy School board.
Wow my friend, these are awesome – may have to use a few for SJ!!! x
How cute… I just love that little theme of snowman…
