It feels good to be back to setting monthly goals. Making lists is my jam. I get a lot more accomplished with lists and count on them to keep me on track. Last year I didn’t do my monthly goals and missed it. I’ve decided to focus on specific areas of my lift while making my monthly goals; God, Marriage, Motherhood, Finances, Health, House & Me.
Setting goals each month allows me to really think about specific things I want to accomplish and helps me focus on those things throughout the month. Keeping my list to 5-7 goals seems to be the magic number for me. I can get a lot accomplished but don’t get overwhelmed with my list. Here is what I hope to accomplish this month.
-ONE-
Date Night- Recently a Top Golf opened up in our area. Hubs has been talking about it for months. It’s time to have Nana babysit and have some fun with my main man.
-TWO-
Bye Bye Target. When I sat down and made our budget for the year, I was ashamed at how much money I spent at Target each month. I took a trip each week. While most of that trip was groceries, there were ALWAYS unnecessary purchases. Always. This month I’m staying away. I will be back to Publix for my grocery shopping this month. Hubs and I have also agreed no shopping for anything but groceries this month. It’s going to be as hard for him to not purchase from Amazon as it is from me to stay away from Target.
-THREE-
Read a book. Last year, I started reading The Husband’s Secret by Liane Moriarty. I really enjoyed it but became so exhausted with my pregnancy I rarely stayed up to read. As soon as L starts sleeping in his own room, I plan on reading at night while hubs watches TV.
-FOUR-
Gymnastics for AG. My motherhood goal this month is to get AG out and about more. We’ve pretty much been hibernating since L has been born. With all of the sickness going around, I had no interest in taking the both of them to germ infested public play areas. Especially after both of them getting RSV after a small playdate. I’ve had a lot of mommy guilt for not getting her out enough. Even though we do the park and play outside with neighbors, it’s time for her to have things just for her. So I want to sign her up for Gymnastics classes. We also have a MyGym Groupon that I plan to start using as well.
-FIVE-
Start Stroller Strides. It’s time for this mama to get back to the gym. Stroller Strides may not be an actual gym but I’ve heard amazing things about it. I don’t want to join and gym and put the kids in the childcare area. With Stroller Strides, they are both with me the entire time and I get a workout in. I’m a little nervous about AG staying in the stroller for an hour long workout. I’m hoping a strategically packed snack bag and a few books will do the trick.
-SIX-
Church.
-SEVEN-
Finish L’s nursery. Now that the Christmas decorations are packed away for the next year, it’s time to focus on our house again. L’s room is almost finished. We have what we need for decorating, now we just need to put it all together.
What are you hoping to accomplish this month?
I am doing monthly goals this year. I didn't last but what a great way to help gets stuff done.
That sounds like a great date nite.
As I have budgeting as a goal I need to do the exact same thing and stay away from target as well.
Will be praying that you find a church that yal love. About a year or 2 we were in that same boat.
I like the idea of a small goal list each month. Seems manageable.
What a great list!!! I think I may have to "borrow" some of these for myself!
If you are looking for a good book that you cannot put down…I recommend Beautiful Disaster -(its a best seller and available at Target 😉 But seriously, I cannot put it down! Awesome and I hear it is a part of a series – added bonus!! HA
Stroller Strides is AWESOME! I've been doing it since June and have really toned up and just feel all around better about my body. It can be so hard after having a c-section to get those muscles back in your core, but it's a great workout! All of the songs and interaction with the kids usually helps them to stay in the stroller too. 🙂 Hope you enjoy it, and Happy New Year!
I am considering Stroller Strides too but worry that Connor will get to antsy/bored in the stroller. He likes to go and explore and I can get in about a 45 minute RUN with him usually.
Your goals are pretty close to what I want to achieve as well.
Good luck!
These are awesome goals my friend, good luck x
