Before I was a mom, I spent a lot of my time as the Tampa director of a non profit organization, Queen for a Day. I started the Tampa Chapter while in college and continued hosting events until we moved to Texas last year. Queen for a Day was an organization that worked with local hospitals. We hosted queen and hero events for the little fighters going through the unthinkable. There was nothing more rewarding than spending an afternoon making sick children feel special and confident. Now that I’m a mom, just thinking back to the events and children I worked with breaks my heart. It makes me snuggle in my littles nice and close and say a prayer for all the children who are spending their days in the hospital, fighting things their little bodies shouldn’t have to fight.
Spreading Community Love with Huggies Snug & Dry Ultra
The reason I’m talking about my past experience with Queen for a Day today is because I’m working with Huggies on a campaign to give back to our community (and yours.) As part of the launch of their new Snug & Dry Ultra diapers (available at Wal-Mart), Huggies wants to help you give back to a community project of your choice. Whether it’s a local park that you take your kids to, a nonprofit that means something special to you or an organization that helps others (kids, animals, nature, etc.), YOU get to nominate a community project of your choice to win one of 10 grants of $2,000 each from Huggies!
One of my favorite places to go for Queen for a Day events was The Children’s Cancer Center. Their mission is to help children and their families by providing the educational, financial, and emotional relief necessary to cope with the illnesses which threaten to tear their lives apart. As someone who spent almost 10 years working with the center, I can’t think of a more deserving organization to nominate for this contest.
Nominating a project is simple. All you need to do is post a “selfie” of you and your baby/kids to Twitter or Instagram and use the hashtag #UltraHug. Make sure to include the name and/or description of the community project of your choice that you would like to nominate to win a $2,000 grant. Simple as that. Around July 6th, Huggies will narrow down the finalists and chose the 10 winners.
I hope my #selfie will win and bring $2,000 to The Children’s Cancer Center. Thank you to Huggies for hosting this contest.
This is so sweet! Thank you for sharing!!
