There is one moment that I look forward to each and every day. It’s a moment that makes my mama heart full. A moment where I say to myself, “this is what it’s all about.”
This moment happens around 3:15 each afternoon. It’s the time L is just about to wake up from his afternoon nap. Big sister always grabs the monitor the moment she starts to hear him stir. She patiently watches it, waiting for him to sit up.
As soon as his head pops up, she asks if she can go upstairs to get him up. The answer is always yes. Always. Not only is this my favorite moment of the day, it’s also hers and based off the smile on his face it’s her brothers as well.
She makes her way upstairs. L can hear the gate shut and quietly stands at his crib rail, looking for the door to open. She opens the door, turns the light on and the party begins.
They talk, play peek a boo, dance, scream and laugh. The best part of it all is I get to sit back and watch it all. Being able to watch from the monitor allows AG to feel like the BIG SISTER. Getting him “up” is her job. A job she wants to do alone. A job she takes pretty serious.
When she first started doing this, I would stand outside the door, just listening. I wished I could see his face and even tried to peek in a few times. Each time I would hear “MOOOOOOMMMM!! I’M getting him up!” Thats when I thought of keeping the monitor on to be able to witness the love and be a fly on the wall.
Thanks to a good quality monitor, I get to witness the love between the two little ones that have my heart. The love between two siblings that continues to grow everyday. The love that I know will last a lifetime.
It’s moments like these that parenting is all about. Moments like these that make all of the tears, tantrums, sleepless nights and spilled milk worth it. So very worth it.
Now let me tell you about the monitor that made this moment possible to witness. It’s the VTech VM343 Baby Monitor. If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you know we’re a VTech family. Their toys are everywhere in our house, now their monitor is added to the list of favorites. One of the things that is a must with a monitor and two kids is the ability to switch between two cameras. The VTech VM343 Baby Monitor can expand up to four cameras. You can see your littles with multiple viewing options, including single view (one camera only), split-screen viewing (all paired cameras at once) and patrol mode (single view that transitions to a different camera every seven seconds). Patrol mode is what we use every night. When the kids go to bed, we’re able to keep an eye on both all night long with just one monitor. AG also loved to do stamps or read in her room for quiet time while L naps. I also use the monitor during those times to be able to keep an eye on both of them but also get some of my work done at the same time. Hubs and I are even able to take the monitor outside after the kids go to bed when we visit with our neighbors thanks to 1,000 feet of range. Out of three previous monitor’s we’ve owned, this is the farthest a monitor has ever reached. I honestly can’t say enough about this monitor. After three years of experience, it’s the best we’ve used.

That is the sweetest thing ever that she wants to get him up from his nap!! And I love that you get to watch the whole thing!
Oh my gosh…the sweetest!!!! This is one of Arden’s favorite times too. And she calls Nash “Nashy”. Lukey and Nashy! 😉
Oh these kids of ours would be the best of friends!
Oh my gosh, this is the sweetest EVER! Scarlett is so looking forward to Bodhi being more interactive… I am too, but trying not to rush this newborn phase! What a nice monitor too, I think it’s similar to the one we got this time around.

It’s so much fun when they’re a bit older, soak up those newborn days mama! They go by way too fast!
This is so sweet! Mac is always the first one to wake up in our house. He comes and gets in bed with us while we all wait for Mim to wake up. As soon as we hear her on the monitor, he runs in her room and gets in her crib with her and talks to her until I come get them. It’s the sweetest!! Love this!

I would love AG to be able to come into our bed when she wakes up, right now she just screams MOM I”M UUUUUPPPPP!!! Over and over until I get her…
I love a good monitor with a big screen. The only thing this is missing is the time – why do so many monitors not have the time on them? I am convinced it is because parents don’t want to know how many times they are awake at night!

Yes! But I’m with you, sometimes I don’t want to know what time it is!
OMG, that is the cutest thing ever! Sibling love is such a wonderful thing and so precious.
Couldn’t agree more, so blessed to be able to witness it!
So sweet, how special to be able to watch those ‘private’ sibling moments. I always thought a video monitor was overkill, but then I had kids and I LOVE it. 🙂
LOL, yes. I don’t know what I’d do without ours. Especially since Luke likes to pull down the bumper and get his feet stuck!
This is ADORABLE – they are just the sweetest!!
I also sit and watch my girls on our monitor – and it is one of the very best mommy moments x

Yes! I don’t know what I”m going to do when the days of naptime are gone for both of them!
This is so sweet!!! One of my favorite things to do for sure! 🙂
Thank you!
Such a sweet moment between siblings! I swear, the fighting/pestering/toy-stealing between siblings is so exhausting, these moments make up for that and then some!!!
Couldn’t agree more xo
So so sweet, friend! Watching a sibling relationship is truly a gift!

How sweet is is that you can sit back and watch your little ones interact without knowing you are peeping in on them?
