Start the month off right by doing these 5 things….
May 1st is here. I say it every year, but this year sure is flying by. School will be out at the end of the month. Summer will be gone in the blink of an eye. And everyone knows, my mind will be on all things pumpkin and Christmas after that. So yes, time is flying. I can’t stop it. I looked at my 2018 bucket list last week and realized I needed to get a jump on some of the things on that list.
So, here is your friendly reminder as a new month is here. Think about your goals for the year. Where are you in reaching them? What are some things you need to add to your May list to help that happen? The start of a new month is the perfect time to evaluate things, clean things out and think about what you want to get done over the next four weeks.
Today, I’m going to share 5 things with you that I (try) to do at the start of every month. These things are pretty simple and don’t take too much time. They can leave you feeling a little more prepared for the new month ahead.
One
Set up your calendar. Whether it’s computer or paper….or both. Make sure your events, appointments, important dates, etc are on ALL of the calendars you use. I have a planner, use I Cal and have a command center at home with a whiteboard calendar. I try to make sure my dates are on all THREE of these calendars.
Two
Set goals. What do you want to accomplish? What book do you want to read? How much weight do you want to lose? How many workouts do you want to complete? How many family dates do you want to go on? How much money needs to make it into savings?
Three
Meal Plan. Make a list of meals you want to make throughout the month. Start a weekly grocery list with those items needed for your meals. Add to the lists throughout the month. This will save you lots of time throughout the month.
Four
Clean it OUT! Think of the things you use everyday. Your car, your purse, your wallet. File those receipts away, vacuum up the goldfish off the floorboard of your car. Please tell me I’m not the only one that has to do this often! If you have a “spot” where everything piles up in your house, go through it. The less clutter and mess with the things you use daily, the less stress!
Five
Do YOU. Take some time away for you. Destress, relax, regroup. Figure out what you need to make this month successful for you. You can’t be mom, wife, teacher, boss, etc without taking some time for you. Whether it’s a pedicure, a long walk, a trip alone to the beach or the mall, take some time for you before starting another busy month.
