M&M Brookies

Two years ago, we made red velvet brookies and they were a big hit in our house. Last week, the kids came home from school and wanted to bake. It was 4pm at this point and the last thing I wanted to do is start softening butter and gather a bunch of ingredients. I always have brownie mix on hand and had some cookie dough leftover from something I was supposed to make over the holidays. This was the perfect opportunity to make M&M Brookies, which take less than 40 minutes from start to finish with about only 5-10 minutes of hands on time.

Brownies + cookies= brookies.

These really are so easy to make and a great spin on the traditional brownie. Make the brownie mix according to the direction on the box. Then break apart pieces of the cookie dough to plan on top of the brownie mix. I used about 1/3- 1/2 of each premade cookie in rows on the brownie mix. Then one of my sweet little helpers, pushed the dough down just a bit. We had some M&M’s for Valentine’s Day in a jar, so we decided to add those on as well, covering the majority of space without cookie dough on it. After that, it all goes in the oven for the same amount of time it says on the brownie box. Let them cool. Then cut and serve!

I bagged up the M&M brookies in cellophane bags to deliver at work. And then I forgot them on the table in the morning. So they ended up going to football the next day and the kids did a number on the rest. These are the perfect semi-homemade treat. They look like they took a while to make and are delicious. You can change up the M&M’s and sprinkles for whatever you’re celebrating.
