One of our Christmas traditions is sprinkling magical reindeer food all over the lawn on Christmas Eve. The kids get so excited that it will help the reindeer find our house and even more when they see some if it is gone on Christmas morning. It’s just one more thing to make Christmas Eve a little more magical.
For the last few years, the kids have made the reindeer food in school as part of their holiday parties. But last year, when everything was cancelled due to Covid, they didn’t make any at school. So we decided to bring the tradition home and make it ourselves. This is such a fun tradition to do with your kids, whether at home or school. It would even be a fun party activity or fun to make during a playdate. Since it involves glitter, I recommend doing it outside or having a tablecloth.
This year, our school parties were back (outdoors but none the less) and a friend asked me to make a printable for the 1st grade party. You can download your free copy here.
Print this page on cardstock, there are 8 tags per page and cut them out.
Next, you’ll need oats (any kind) and glitter. Another option is to add in sprinkles if you’d like!
Mix about a TBS of glitter with a cup of oats. Add more glitter if needed, remember the reindeer are using this to find your house! The more sparkle the better, remember that is how the reindeers will find the house!
Once the glitter and oats are mixes, put a little in a plastic bag and staple the topper to the bag.
Your magical reindeer food is now ready to be sprinkled all over the lawn on Christmas Eve!
Just make sure you keep it in a place you’ll remember until then!
