I am so excited to share this candy sushi with you all today. I made it last year and it’s one of those things I didn’t get around to posting. It was one of the creations in a baking class that was “fun with food” themed.
Are those so much fun? The kids had a ball making them, sticky fingers and all. Let me tell you how to do it. There are two different types of candy sushi above.
For this first one, you’ll need a fruit by the foot, rice krispie treats and swedish fish.
Cut the fruit roll up into 6 inch pieces. Next, cut a rice krispie treat in half. Last, grab a swedish fish. You’ll put the fish on top of the rice krispie treat and then wrap the fruit by the foot around it. Make sure to press the fruit by the foot in at the end so it will stick.
The next one is more of a roll. For this one, you’ll need a fruit roll-up, rice krispie treat and sour straws.
First, unroll the fruit roll-up. Take the wrapper off as well. I placed mine on parchment paper so that it wouldn’t stick.
Next take a rice krispie treat and flatten it out a bit on top of the fruit roll-up. Add some sour straws on top. You’ll have to cut the straws in half or to whatever size works for you.
Next, roll it up as tight as possible and pressing the ends of the fruit roll-up in.
To finish it up, all you have to do is cut the roll into pieces. Use a sharp knife and cut it slowly.
There you have it, candy sushi. These didn’t last long in our house. Enjoy!
