After making Cadbury bites again this year, I started thinking about the other combinations I could come up with. I had recently grabbed a bag of Reese’s Pieces Eggs for Easter and knew that would be a great combination. I mean who doesn’t love chocolate and peanut butter? Add a salty pretzel and you have Reese’s Pieces Pretzel Bites- a snack you won’t be able to stop eating!
These are so easy to make. The thing that takes the most time is unwrapping the Hershey kisses. I always recruit one of the kids to do. As long as I promise them they can eat a few along the way, they’re pretty willing.
Lets get started!
You want to have these three items ready to go (Reese’s Pieces Eggs, Snap Pretzels and Hershey’s Kisses) along with a baking sheet. I always line the baking sheet with parchment paper, but it’s not something needed. I do it just to prevent cleaning up any melted chocolate if things get messy.
First, preheat the oven to 200. Then, put the pretzels onto the baking sheet. Leave a little space between them. Use as many as you want. On top of the pretzel, you’re going to put a Hershey’s Kiss. As soon as all of the pretzels are covered with Hershey Kisses, place them in the oven for about 5 minutes. You want the kisses to look very shiny when they come out of the oven.
From there, place the Reese’s Pieces Egg candy on top of the kiss. Since my Hershey’s kisses weren’t melted well, I had to press them in a bit. One of the most important things is the kiss melting into the pretzel enough to adhere. You don’t want the kiss and egg falling off the pretzel when you go to take a bite!
That’s it! I’ve put these in a bowl at Easter, brought them to work for potlucks, placed them in bags with a cute tag to gift and more. They’ll be a hit no matter where you take them, promise!
Now, for these bites I used chocolate Hershey’s kisses instead of Hershey’s hugs. Now, when it comes to using the milk chocolate kisses, it’s hit or miss for me. The Hugs definitely melt easier in the oven and are easier to stick the eggs on but the TASTE of the milk chocolate with the Reese’s just can’t be beat! So while mine don’t look like perfectly melted goodness, I can assure you tasted perfect!
