A few weeks ago, I tried out The Vets- in home care for Cooper’s annual appointment. With being back to school, sports starting out and house projects galore- time is limited right now. So when I heard I could make an appointment for Cooper to have his annual check up at home, I jumped on the opportunity. The Vets is a mobile veterinary practice that provides medical care at your home. The vets are full time veterinarians, which makes this the same as a regular vet visit, but with a more comprehensive exam and one on one approach for you and your pet.
For us, we chose a Saturday appointment. It was the most convenient for us and felt that we wouldn’t be rushed to get done. The Vet came with a tech, they arrived right on time and I received reminders and updates when they were on their way. I was a little nervous about how cooper would react. We found the best lighting in the kitchen, separated him and Zoey and the Vets got to work. They asked about 15 minutes of questions before we even got started. They wanted to know everything and anything about Cooper to make sure they were giving him the best care.
Cooper did so well with the Vets. He LOVED the attention and was very cooperative with everything they needed to do. Cooper had heartworm test, his annual shots and a comprehensive exam. The entire visit took just over 30 minutes.
Benefits to at home Vet care:
- Convenience- It was amazing not to have to load up the dogs, make sure the car was ready, wait at the office, etc. It was especially nice not to have to clean out the car afterwards!
- One on one care- I didn’t feel rushed. I spent a lot of time answering questions about Cooper
What I wish I would have known with The Vets- in home vet care:
- I would have loved to see a breakdown of costs prior to the appointment. I’m a planner and will always shop prices, so in hindsight I most definitely could have asked for this. One thing I wasn’t aware of was a difference in price between a weekend visit and weekday. It was expensive in comparison to our original vet appts, but worth the convenience.
Cooper was exhausted after his visit and was able to take a nice nap!
