Up until this past year, I had never made apple crisp. For me, I’m a chocolate girl. So if I’m looking for a good dessert, I look for something with chocolate in it. But, the husband enjoys a good crisp and cobbler. So last fall, I decided to make one for him.
I was surprised with how easy it was to make. I prepped everything when I put dinner in the oven. By the time my meal was finished cooking, this dessert was ready to go in. Since it takes about a half hour to cook, it was ready as soon as we were finished with dinner. My parents were over for dinner on the night I made it, everyone enjoyed it. There wasn’t a bit leftover and it was definitely an EASY apple crisp!
- 4 medium apples tart work best, about 4 cups sliced
- 3/4 cup brown sugar packed
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup oats quick or old fashioned
- 1/3 cup butter or margarine softened
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- vanilla ice cream for serving
- Heat oven to 375ºF. Grease bottom and sides of 8-inch square pan with shortening or cooking spray.
- Spread apples over bottom of pan. In medium bowl, stir remaining ingredients except ice cream until well mixed; sprinkle over apples.
- Bake about 30-35 minutes or until topping is golden brown and apples are tender when pierced with a fork.
- Serve warm with ice cream.
I love apple crisp! I haven’t made it in a while and this post really made me crave some

If you make it, let me know what you think!
I am with you, chocolate is the best… BUT, a good fruit crisp or cobbler can be soooo delicious, especially with some vanilla ice cream, yum! Brown sugar and oats always make everything good. 🙂

Ice cream makes all the difference! I may try to find a way to add some chocolate to this recipe next time!
I love apple crisp! We get very excited around here to go apple picking so that we can come home and make one! Is it September yet??

Did you find the top nice and crispy? Mine have not been crispy lately! Not sure if it’s the new recipes I’ve been trying or if I’m not doing something right! Lol
